#Dokev platform download I'm building for TARGETPLATFORM=linux/386, TARGETARCH=386, TARGETVARIANT= So when I use docker buildx build -platform, what do I see inside the BuildKit environment? TARGETARCH is to general, and ARGETVARIANT may be blank (in the case of arm64). Those to help the situation, but as you can see below, the arm/v6 vs arm/v7 vs arm/v8 output can make all this TARGETPLATFORM is actually the combo of TARGETOS/ TARGETARCH/ TARGETVARIANT so in some cases you could use We'll still need to convert that output to what our RUN commands need. We can use BuildKit with the TARGETPLATFORM argument to get a more consistent environment variable in our If we wanted to have a single Dockerfile build across (at minimum) x86-64, ARM 64-Bit, and ARM 32-Bit, Recommended approach for curl and wget commands in multi-platform Dockerfiles But BuildKit seems to do additional conversion, as you'll see in the testing below. x86_64 amd64 # all modern Intel-compatible x84 64-Bit architectures i386 386 # older Intel 32-Bit architecture, originally used in the 386 processor armel arm/v6 # 32-bit v6 architecture. Used in Raspberry Pi 3 and Pi 4 when 32bit Raspbian Linux is used Used on Apple M1, AWS Graviton, and Raspberry Pi 3's and 4's aarch64 arm64 # the latest v8 arm architecture. This is similar to (but not exactly) what ARG TARGETPLATFORM gives us: There's also the complexity that a device might have one architecture hardware (arm64) but run a different kernel (arm/v7 32-Bit). In older arm devices it'll say armv71 even though you For example, withĪrm64 (v8) architecture, it might say arm64, or aarch64. Using uname -m won't work for all architectures, as the name changes based on where it's running. No one seems to agree on common file naming. #Dokev platform download Trying to download pre-built binaries of various tools and dependencies (GitHub, etc.) that don't useĪ package manager (apt, yum, brew, apk, etc.).ĭownload URLs are inconsistently named, and expect some sort of kernel and architecture combo in the file name. This problem rears its ugly head when you're There are still inconsistencies we need to deal with. The problem with downloading binaries in Dockerfiles See the docs onĪnd the automatic platform ARGs. Turns out this might be harder then you're expecting.ĭocker has BuildKit which makes this much easier with the docker buildx build -platform option, andĬombined with the ARG TARGETPLATFORM gets us much closer to our goal. Goal: In Docker, our goal should be a single Dockerfile that can build for multiple Linux architectures.Ī stretch-goal might be cross-OS (Windows Containers), but for now let's focus on the Linux kernel. Having a consistent OS (kernel) and architecture naming scheme for building is harder. Docker -platform translation example for TARGETPLATFORM

Then it was time to go downstairs for a dinner I co-hosted with Chefs Michael White and Antonio Bachour. He gave me a personal tour of the exhibit. – businessman, collector, and the founder of the Wolfsonian Museum in Miami Beach, and Genoa–Nervi, Italy. Here I am with Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson Jr. The pop-up display runs through May 26th – I hope you have a chance to go to The Wolfsonian-FIU in Miami to see it. Aside from the name “Stewart” on the piece, I thought it was a wonderful item, especially since I recorded many “Ask Martha” radio spots for terrestrial radio at that time, and my magazines were originally published by Time Warner. On the wall is this vintage clock I purchased in the early 1990s. Here are is another grouping of items I have long used in my homes, including Miele vacuums, and Kitchen Aid’s stand mixer. The bottom item is a pitcher and tray by Thermos in 1935, made from aluminum, steel, and enamel. These canteens are triple-insulated to keep the contents cool or hot. Corkcicle focuses on creating stylish products that are reusable. 1933, next to a more modern Metallic Canteen and Stemless Cup, 2016, from Corkcicle. In this case – a look at the materials used for canteens. These are in my signature fresh green color. I offered reproduction pieces using the original vintage molds and sold them through my old Martha by Mail catalog in the mid-2000s. My cake stands were among the first pieces I thought of displaying. The all-glass, rectangular vintage refrigerator containers are from Kubus, 1938 – also stackable and still quite usable. Manufactured by Anchor Hocking, the oven-to-refrigerator containers were available to the public for nearly a decade. The food storage containers at the top were offered exclusively in my Martha Stewart Everyday line at Kmart. And guess what? 24-years later, today’s kitchen certainly does. It is about my ideas for the “Kitchen of the Future.” I believed it would incorporate more sustainable and “smart” appliances. This article is a New York Times Magazine clipping from 1996 – perhaps some of you remember it. I also worked closely with the Wolfsonian team to incorporate their beautiful collections and place them with their present-day counterparts. I gathered many of the objects from my home for this exhibit – items I still use and love. The exhibit includes items from my private collection, my design lines, other brands I’ve enjoyed using, and various Wolfsonian works that inspire me. The pop-up display within The Wolfsonian’s Art and Design in the Modern Age shows how today's kitchens and homes, and all the appliances for cooking, cleaning, and living, have evolved over the years. This dinner and reception also highlighted my new installation at the museum - a collection of curated kitchen and home items for the “ Then + Now” exhibit. This year, I co-hosted two big dinners for the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One - one at the Buccan with Chefs Clay Conley and Katie Button, and the other with Chefs Michael White and Antonio Bachour at The Wolfsonian–Florida International University. If you’ve never been, I encourage you to attend SOBEWFF - with more than 100 signature events, tastings, parties, seminars, dinners, and classes, it is a wonderful way to enjoy food and to learn from some of the world’s best chefs.
