One way to start helping is for ALL of our members to purchase at least four of our challenge coins. If we are going to be able to provide aid to veteran families that come to us for help, fund scholarship programs, and meet requirements of our mission statements (The mission of the Marine Corps League is to promote the interest and to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps, strengthen the fraternity of Marines and their families, serve Marines and FMF Navy personnel who wear or have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism) then we need to step up and give a few hours of our time when our Detachment is in need of your help. As you know, raising money to fund our projects seems to be an area that is difficult to get participation in. I hope that all of you are enjoying these sunny summer months. or bring them to the next detachment meeting. Tickets for this event are $30.00/per person. Our U.S.M.C.īirthday Cake is being created, and provided by, Gary and Virginia Wimsett to whom we are grateful. This year we will have door prizes and include the Detachment Marine of the Year and the Detachment Associate Member of the Year award presentations as part of our celebration. Ash Todd has arranged entertainment for our social hour. We will hold the event in the private room upstairs at Brothers Restaurant in Young Harris. Your volunteerism is greatly appreciated. This is a similar styled show but for the Christmas Season. Due to our success with this event, I have sent in our exhibitor’s application for the Holiday Bazaar, November 5th – 6th. Detachment 783 was the only VSO to exhibit at this year’s event. The two-day event featured vendors from all over the state of Georgia. In June, Detachment 783 exhibited at the “Made in Georgia Festival” held in Towns County Rec and Convention Center.
